Humble Praises 4/4/2010
What am I? I am nothing. Just dust that moves and breathes and goes about daily functioning. What is life without You? What is life without purpose? If I am not walking bout as a servant of the Lord, then I am like a dumb ox. Being a servant of the Most High is the highest calling. How can I live for myself? You Lord have given me these emotions, but You have also given me a way to rule over my emotions if they do not give You pleasure. You Lord have given me pleasures in this life, but You have also shown me that earthly pleasure is not the greatest satisfaction. You have given me beauty, but You have also given me a gentle spirit of self-control and purity.
My life is naked without the Lord. Empty and meaningless. Full of shame, deceit, and vanity. But You have created me for more than this. You have created me for Your pleasure, for Your service, for Your will in the earth. Don’t ever let me forget that. Be near to me and continue to show me Your ways that I may walk in them. Train me and discipline me that my spirit may be sensitive to the Ruach HaKodesh.
Let me be ever humble before You. Man has choices, but You are sovereign. If you wish to take my life, You will. If You wish me to fall, I will. If you wish me to rise, You will breathe strength into me. You have breathed life into me. So here I am because You have willed it to be. So let my life be a testimony of Your goodness and sovereignty that man will look to You and praise You. That is the whole purpose of man – to obey God. “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
But you have not made life burdensome. You could have made man as machines. You could have been a harsh taskmaster. But You have given me joy in this life. My life has not been full of sorrow. Even in the sorrows, You have shown kindness. Even in wrath and discipline, You have shown mercy. Truly the humble have reason to praise You and magnify Your name. Truly we who are weak can depend on Your strength. Yes, Father. We are dependent upon Your love because without it, we would not be here. You would have wiped us out before we even began. But You haven’t. You have chosen mere man to give You glory and to receive Your love and affection.
Thank You Father that You have given me this life. I do not know fully what You wish to do with me or how long I have, but I thank You for the time I have already had. Help me not to waste my days, but if I waste them let it be spent on You. For in pleasing You, my days are never wasted. You are the only One worth living my life for, so do what You will with my life. I am Yours and belong to You. I know You are good and can do no evil. Though the world may reject You, I cannot for I have seen Your goodness. Help me to see Your hand in all things, but even if I don’t understand, I will still breathe Your name and call You my God. For you are kind Master, good Father, sovereign God, Almighty Yahweh.
I am Yours forever. There is no greater pleasure than being called Yours. I am a humble servant dependent on Your grace; help me to ever seek You and seek to please You. For You are mine and I am Yours. I am content to be called servant of the kind Master and child of the good Father. May my life be pleasing to You and a sweet fragrance. Do as You will with me, for I have signed my life over to You as it was Yours from the beginning of creation. Here I am. Send me. Use me. Waste my life on You. I love You!
